Thank you, Portland!

I am thrilled and honored to have been elected tonight to the Portland School Board! Here are some photos from tonight's victory party in Hillsdale.

Thank you to Doug Morgan for his 4 years of service and hard work on the board. He was very gracious tonight in wishing me well, and I really appreciate his offer to help me during the transition.

I want to thank all my supporters -- thank you to everyone across the city who believed in me, who delivered lawn signs and addressed postcards and stuffed envelopes and knocked on doors. Thank you to all the folks who wrote checks both large and small. Over 270 people donated to this campaign! (We still need some more help...we have about $5,000 in bills left to pay!)

And, thank you to my family for their steadfast support -- now the adventure really begins!

It was truly an honor to run for school board and witness the depth and strength of support for our public schools, in every area of town, not just from our parents, teachers, and district employees but from everyone in the community. This is such a wonderful city and our schools are at the heart of what makes Portland great.

I'm very excited to take office and work with my board colleagues to tackle the challenges ahead -- starting with hiring a new superintendent.

Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart. I promise to do my best for all of Portland's children.
