New endorsements coming in daily

Yesterday I was honored to receive the endorsement of Metro Councilor Robert Liberty. He states:

“Our region cannot succeed unless we have strong public schools at the heart of vital neighborhoods. Our planning for the future must take into account the role of schools in sustaining neighborhoods and building a sense of community. I would welcome Ruth Adkins as a partner in this effort.”

Thank you, Councilor Liberty! One of my central goals as a School Board member is to bring Portland Public Schools, the City, Metro, and the County together in joint planning efforts to map our common future and make sure we have a livable city with strong neighborhoods and schools.

Yesterday I was also endorsed by Sam Chase, executive director of the Community Development Network and a leader in affordable housing. I am grateful for Sam’s support and look forward to working with the affordable housing community in partnerships to strengthen families, schoools, and our city by making sure that Portland’s children have a place to call home.

On Monday I was endorsed by longtime advocate for the homeless, the Rev. Chuck Currie. Rev. Currie states on his blog: “I’m impressed by her understanding of the need to increase enrollment in the city’s schools through efforts that help retain families with young children in our increasingly expensive housing market…”

And among my newest supporters, who I met at a coffee in Kenton last night, is Sharon Gordon, a mother of 8 children, 7 of whom attended Jefferson. Sharon left the coffee wearing her button and carrying lawn signs — thank you for your support, Sharon!

As the whirlwind of campaign events continues, I am honored and excited to have a growing and diverse list of Portlanders coming together in support of my candidacy. Thank you, everyone!
